The rugs made in China have symbols like the Dragon (a beneficial animal that embodies the imperial royalty), the Flaming pearl and others that stand out on light and gilded monochrome fields rather than blue. These symbols often have a Taoist or Buddhist origin. Otherwise in the Tibetan tradition we find rugs with the same symbolism but close to peonies and lotus flowers made with more vivid and contrasting colours such as orange, the color of the monks.
